Fix Dumsor Before The Year Ends Nana Akomea To Mahama

The Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has charged the Mahama-led government to fix the erratic power supply situation, popularly known as dumsor, before the year ends.

According to Nana Akomea, Ghanaians are tired and can no longer allow the NDC government to take them for granted’.

“Ghanaians are tired of dumsor Mr. President. Businesses and industries have collapsed and so the best this government can do for us, is to fix it (dumsor) totally and stop the hide and seek because Ghanaians have had enough” he stated.

Power Minister, Dr Kwabena Donkor promised at a press conference on February 2, 2015 that the almost four year old power crisis will be over by the end of December 2015.

He said: “On behalf of the Ministry of Power, permit me to say that we are very much concerned about the current supply challenges confronting the nation and its consequences on industry, homes and the citizenry.

“We wish to assure that we are determined to adopt every strategy necessary to bring an end to the load shedding…what I can say is that load shedding will end this year,” he promised at the time.

Ghana recently took delivery of the Africa and Middle East Resource Investment (AMERI) power plant from Dubai as well as the Karpower barge from Turkey to produce 250 MW and 225MW, respectively.

These two power generation units, in addition to several power projects across the country, are expected to improve the protracted power shortage in the country.

But Nana Akomea on an Accra based radio station; Wednesday said “Ghanaians are not interested in a barge that will not even solve this issue. They have promised us and so they should deliver”.
