Professional Intervention: Zanetor Revives Muslim Guru After He Collapses In Mosque

Dr. Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings is being hailed as a hero after she saved the life of a member of the Tudu Central Mosque Muslim Chiefs, who collapsed inside the mosque after prayers in Accra yesterday.

Until the incident, Alhaji Kamal was never seen as someone who suffered from any ailment or had had any experience of sickness related to heart attack.

The presence and professional intervention by Dr. Zenator, saved the life of Alhaji Awal from what observers said could have been disastrous.

Dr. Zenator, a medical practitioner and parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korley constituency of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), was at the Tudu Central Mosque to thank the Muslim chiefs and elders for their utmost support before and during the primaries.

However, while inside the mosque exchanging pleasantries with Muslims chiefs after prayers, Alhaji Kamal was seen suddenly failing on his back, fainted and collapsed.

According to eyewitnesses, “when Zenator got over there the man had no pulse and was not breathing.”

A video footage showed Alhaji Kamal walking round inside the mosque and all of a sudden, it was realized something was wrong when someone in the mosque shouted, ‘Help,’ as Alhaji Kamal collapsed.

“Dr. Zenator turned and rushed directly to the man asked that he be put on the floor and she reached into her hand bag, brought out some emergency medicine and revived collapsed Kamal,” another eyewitness stated.

Fainting which causes sudden collapse is a temporary loss of consciousness that happens when the brain does not get enough oxygen. It comes on suddenly, only lasts for a short time and you recover fully within a short time. It is often called a blackout.

But Zenator told The Enquirer, fainting, which is medically called syncope, is not the same thing as a seizure which causes jerking.

She advised that, it is important for one to seek medical attention if he or she suffers from faints or sudden collapse, as it may be due to a serious underlying problem.

According to Zenator, syncope also occurs when one feels sick and sweaty first or passes out with no warning at all.

“When you pass out, you fall to the ground. It isn’t the same thing as a seizure, which makes you jerk.

Usually, she added, fainting happens for a reason, like when one is in pain or has been standing for a long time in a hot place, and attributed Alhaji Kamal’s situation to a possibly long standing in the mosque.

Dr. Zanetor also attributed fainting or sudden collapse to the brain’s needs of a constant supply of Oxygen, stating that if that falls below a certain level,” we fall to the ground until the more oxygen-rich blood can get to the brain.”

When, Alhaji Kamal was revived, he said he does not remember anything, excerpt going on the floor while talking in the mosque and then waking up, though he realizes how lucky he is to be alive.

“I feel very grateful the doctor (Zenator) who was in the mosque,’ said the fainting Alhaji, adding ‘I don’t know where I ‘would have been if she wasn’t here.
