NDC Still Recognizes Sam George And MP, Namoale - Dep Gen Sec Reacts ToSuspension

A National Executive Committee (NEC) member of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. George Lawson, has quickly reacted to a decision by the Greater Accra Regional Executive Committee to suspend some elected parliamentary candidates of the party by warning that such a move would not be countenanced at the national level.

Mr. Lawson called on supporters of the affected candidates not to lose their head in the frenzy which would soon die out when he told Peace FM in an interview during the Midday News Bulletin that the national executives does not recognize the decision taken by their regional counterpart.

According to the deputy National General Secretary of the NDC, the party has already set up a conflict resolution committee to look into disputes that shot up during and after the primaries that was held on 21st November, 2015.

For this reason, he claims it comes as a surprise that the Greater Accra Regional Executives overlooked the system in place and acted on their own authority.

We have set up a conflict resolution committee to look into matters and it is just unfortunate this has happened. Alhaji Hudu Yahaya is the chairman of the resolution committee and their duty is to handle petition and complains in regards to our primaries,” he said.

In a letter signed by Victor  Quarshie Adonoo, the Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NDC and addressed to the party’s elected parliamentary candidate for Ningo-Prampram, Mr. Sam George it was stated that "On the 21st of November 2015, you contravened article 41 (3a) and 40 (8b & c) when you instigated people against the regional executive monitoring team and granted interview to the media, accusing the regional executives of perpertrating fraud to the benefit of you contender".

In a separate letter addressed to Nii Amasah Namoale, MP for La Dadekotopon, it was also stated that "On the 21st of November 2015, you contravened article 40(8c) when you granted interview to the media, accusing the regional Executives of perpertrating fraud to the benefit of you contender and calling of the executives as 'Fraudsters and Pickpockets'".

But Mr. Lawson maintains that “the national executives haven’t suspended anybody from the party, the party recognizes all elected candidates and it is unfortunate this has happened”.
