NDC Branch Executives Threaten To Lay Down Tools Over Breach Of Trust

Last Saturday, branch executive members of the National Democratic Congress in the Ablekuma North Constituency, embarked on an intense demonstration to vent their anger at their constituency executives.

The branch executives led by Eddie Leeward Gariba Abubakar Adams, threatened to put lay down their tools if the leadership of the party including the party’s flagbearer would not take steps to address the deceitful ways in which their constituency executives supervised the parliamentary primary in Ablekuma North Constituency.

In a statement issued and signed by the branch executives, they accused their constituency executives of deliberately expunging 600 names from their voters’ register without providing any explanation.

Below is a copy of their statement

Executives of the Ablekuma North Constituency took almost all the registration documents to themselves leaving no booklets for the branch executives to register their members.

We came to realize with time that it was a scheme for them to use the registered forms to favor one candidate during the parliamentary primary.

During the NDC’s biometric card registration, our constituency executives took 2gh each from us but we later found out that the registration process was free.

After doing so, they secretly kept the biometric cards when it arrived and by two weeks time to the elections they distributed the cards to their allies to canvas vote for their preferred candidate.

We confronted our constituency executives over the matter and they had no answer to give to us but to rubbish our claim. They informed us should we go to the extent of petitioning our Regional and National Executives over the matter, they would tell them we are either NPP surrogates or truants within the party in the area.

Some executives of the Ablekuma North Constituency have made money their sole aim when it came to selecting our Parliamentary Candidate. To them, the parliamentary election was a ‘cocoa season’ to make money.

There is also a long standing issue on our party office rent that has become a gold mine for the executives.
Till date, we do not know the actual cost of the Ablekuma North Constituency NDC office. Aside this, on the day of election, soldiers was brought in to intimidate voters.

This same act motivated our past parliamentary candidate, Ras Mubarak to deject us this time round and vie for the same position elsewhere in another constituency.

If steps are not taken to address the issue, we can promise President Mahama that as branch executive members of the party we would vote skirt and blouse in 2016.

For further clarification, President Mahama can set up an investigation team or contact Hon. Ras Mubarack to know more about the ills that have gone on in our constituency.

The NDC can be very attractive in Ablekuma North Constituency, should the cartel pretending to be executives be removed from post.

Thank You

Signed

Eddie Leeward- Ward Secretary of Otaten and Branch Chairman of Assemblies of God Ablekuma North Constituency, NDC.

Gariba Abubakar Adams- Branch Chairman, NDC
