NPP Challenges Alban Bagbin Over Power Barge Claim

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has challenged the Majority Leader Alban Bagbin to produce evidence that the NPP sent a delegation to Turkey to delay the arrival of the power barge.

The government failed to meet a number of deadlines it set for the arrival of the Karpower barge expected to address the power challenges – a situation which has crippled many sectors of the economy.

Responding to issues raised in a recent press conference addressed by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Alban Bagbin told Accra-based radio station, Neat FM that the NPP had sabotaged the processes in getting the power barge delivered on time.

But Communications Director of the NPP, Nana Akomea said the party takes a serious view to the allegations.

He wondered the basis for the concocted claim when in fact they are also praying for the energy crisis to be resolved.

Nana Akomea asked Alban Bagbin to produce evidence or render an unqualified apology to the NPP.

“What will the NPP gain by sending people to Turkey stop the production of the barge? It is an extremely wild allegation and the sooner the Hon Bagbin comes with prove, the better for his integrity” he stressed.
