Nana Fredua Condemns EOCO Investigation

NPP member Nana Fredua Agyemang has condemned the government's white paper directive for the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) to investigate Hon. K.T Hammond's disbursement of the $900,000 to law firm "Constant and Constant".

Nana Fredua questioned the basis for the EOCO investigation.

According to him, there are several government officials who deserve to be implicated by the EOCO and not Hon. K.T Hammond.

He made mention of the former Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah whose administration saw huge sums of money allegedly squandered during the FIFA World Cup 2014 at Brazil.

To him, the former Sports Minister among others has not been probed by the EOCO and it is Hon. K.T Hammond who has become a 'bait' to the institution.

Nana Fredua further raised red flags over the payment of ex gratia to lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata and other workers of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

Hon. K.T Hammond claimed that Mr. Tsikata and his wife, Ms. Esther Cobbah were paid 1 million and 600,000 cedis respectively for their services at GNPC.

Nana Fredua wondered why the GNPC would pay ex gratia to Mr. Tsikata for any service he provided for the Corporation.

He questioned the logic and basis for the ex gratia payments, asking "why did you pay such money? Why should only those people receive the payments? How did you arrive at the calculations for the money?”
