John Mahama Has Taken Ghanaians For Granted - Sir John

NPP’s outspoken former Chief Scribe, Sir John says the recent utility tariff hikes is a “wicked Christmas gift to Ghanaians” from President John Dramani Mahama.

He noted that the 59.2% increase in electricity and 67.2% for water by the Mahama-led administration will only worsen situation in the already frustrating power crisis and ailing economy.

“The NDC think Ghanaians wash their faces from down to top, but they will show them they exist in 2016,” he stressed.

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) on Monday announced hikes in both water and electricity tariffs at a combined rate of 126.4%, expected to take effective from December 14, 2015.

This has prompted fierce public uproar with labour unions and political parties have branded the increase as “unfortunate” which could trigger massive job losses in the country.

The NPP’s former General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie speaking on UTV’s morning show Adekye Nsroma said the increase is a total rip-off and “evil”.

He insisted that the Mahama-led government has failed Ghanaians after promising a ‘Better Ghana’ some years back.

“John Mahama has taken us for granted so we must teach them a bitter lesson in the 2016 general elections,” he fumed.
