Blame Prez Mahama And Wife For Tariff Increment Chairman Wontumi Claims

Affectionately called in politics as ‘Chairman Wontumi’, Bernard Antwi Boasiako – the controversial Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP has accused President John Dramani Mahama of being responsible for the recent hikes in utility tariffs.

He argued that in a bid to get enough money to finance the 2016 campaign – President Mahama has deliberately joined forces with the PURC and the Electoral Commission to increase utilities and pump enough money into the EC to favour him and the NDC.

“Mahama and his wife have planned with PURC to increase utility tariff unnecessarily so that he can collaborate with the EC boss afterwards and inject the utility money in the commission to gain favour from the EC and win 2016 elections,” he alleged.

The PURC on Monday announced hikes in electricity and water tariffs - electricity has been increased by 59.2 percent while water shoot up to 67.2 percent.

Joining the chorus of the opposition NPP to slam the Mahama-led administration over the latest utility increments – Chairman Wontumi insisted that he has evidence to support his wild claims.

“I will stage a demo and stop government and the PURC from going ahead with the useless Christmas gift to Ghanaians because Ghanaians are tired of this incompetent administration,” said on Adom FM.
