Utility Consumers Must Defy Orders To Pay Tariff Increment - Nana Boakye

A Former NPP Parliamentary Aspirant for Manhyia North, Nana Boakye has called on business owners and industries to defy the directives by the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) to pay new tariffs.

According to him, the Trade Union Congress and the Public Relations Director of PURC Nana Yaa Jantuah have ganged up against Ghanaians.

Contributing to Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Nana Boakye explained that instead of the TUC and the PURC Spokespersons acting as mouthpiece of Ghanaians, they have rather thrown their weight behind the government.

He wondered where their interest lies because in his earnest view, the utility providers should act in the interest of the citizenry and not the government.

Obviously not delighted with the decisions by the TUC and PURC, Nana Boakye charged the utility consumers to demonstrate against increments in the tariffs.

I am encouraging industries, business owners to defy. They should go to them (the TUC). They must demonstrate against them. They are not speaking for Ghanaians. They have joined Nana Yaa Jantuah and have all attained a department at the Ministry of Power and Energy. We don’t know if they have office at the Ministry and speaking for them. They need to speak for us. Where is our spokesperson?

He further questioned the logic in paying for the "incompetence" of the Mahama administration.
