Parliamentary Aspirant Unhappy With Housing Policy

The Progressive People Party’s (PPP) parliamentary aspirant for Obuasi East, Mr Frank Aboagye Danyansah has criticized government policy on building houses and making it affordable for the average Ghanaian worker.

He expressed concern about government’s housing policy describing it as inadequate.

Mr Danyansah said “no Ghanaian worker who earns less than GH₡ 4000.00 a month can go for a house under the government housing projects".

Mr Danyansah, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, urged government to be open with its housing projects and also set out transparent criteria for owing the house.

He called on Government to declare the amount spent so far on the housing project, and the number of houses completed.

“With this specific ones they should give us details, so we know as a nation we are adding something to the housing stock; our housing deficit is about 1.7 million, let’s know how much we have reduced,” Mr Danyansah said.

He called on the government to show transparency in the country's housing projects and policy that would allow private sector participation to address the widening housing deficits.
