PNC Criticises NDC Government

Mr. Bernard Mornah, People’s National Convention’s (PNC) National Chairman-elect, on Saturday issued a warning to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that PNC was more potent than before, and was ready to unseat the NDC in the 2016 general elections.

He said if NDC had any doubt that it was the turn of the PNC, it should check the level of poverty that was confronting the people of Ghana.

“It should also check that over the past six to seven years the Upper West Regional Hospital it started to construct in Wa had not yet reached the lintel level,” he said.

Mr. Mornah pointed out these failures on the part of government at a Delegates' Congress of the PNC, to elect national executives and a presidential candidate in Wa on Saturday.

He said if the NDC doubted the PNC’s commitment to torpedo it in 2016, it should look around and it would find out that the people of Ghana were frustrated by bad and vulgar politics.

Mr. Mornah described the 2016 budget as an IMF and World Bank budget that had imposed more hardships than blessings on the people.

He, however, said the PNC had refused to talk about the New Patriotic Party at its Congress because a “house divided among itself, would not stand the test of time.”

The National Chairman promised to deliver 10 parliamentary seats to the PNC in the Upper West Region.

He also promised to work with everybody in the party to tap ideas and experiences of members to make the party more vibrant and attractive to the electorate in the 2016 elections.

Dr. Edward Mahama, flagbearer-elect, cautioned Ghanaians not gamble with their votes for gifts from political parties, but to elect vitalized and visionary leaders to champion the course of rebuilding a prosperous nation for them.

He said the PNC during his leadership, suggested a lot of pro-poor policies, such as the National Health Insurance, School Feeding Programme, among others, some of which had been implemented by both the NDC and NPP for the benefit of the people.

The PNC Presidential Candidate said the party would soon propose policies and programmes to address unemployment among the youth, as well as the energy crisis which had impacted negatively on the economy.
