Newly elected National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Monarh has described the just ended congress of his party to elect Presidential Candidate and other National Executives as an epitome of maturity and comportment.

Despite the accusations of unfair and bias mainly from defeated Hassan Ayariga, the PNC 2012 Flagbearer, the former General Secretary who is now the National Chairman of PNC, stated on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, the party members largely showed maturity.

He stressed that though there were attempts to destabilize the congress with court injunctions and to disqualify him from contesting the Chairmanship position, the party members had patience to weigh the petitions and eventually decided to go ahead with the congress.

He maintained the PNC leadership worked extremely hard to internally overcome any challenges and allowed the delegates to select the leaders they want to take up the party to the next level.

“Most importantly, let me thank our party members for the show of maturity and comportment; the patience they had and above all the congress went well despite the attempts to stop the congress…the party worked very hard internally to overcome any challenge and to allow the delegates to decide and they decided strongly,” he said.

Assessing from the voter turnout at the congress, Bernard Monarh indicated that the number of votes he chalked show that the delegates have confidence and faith him to bring positive results in the next general elections.

He reiterated that taking inspiration from the theme of the congress “Victory Begins From Home”, PNC has already started work from the hometown of the late President Hilla Lemann to thank the people and also to alert them that PNC has bounced back and their home support will be needed ahead of the 2016 election.

Touching on attempts by some members of his party to disqualify him, Bernard Monarh intimated that the incident should remain in the past and begged for forgiveness if he wronged anyone in that process as he has already forgiven anybody who wronged him as well.
