PNC Is Practicing Mafia Games In Elections And Not Democracy - Hassan Ayariga

The People’s National Convention (PNC) 2012 Flagbearer, Mr. Hassan Ayariga who lost his bid to lead the party in the 2016 election to Dr. Edward Mahama has described the recent congress as illegal and a mafia game.

According to him, the congress was meant for him to win as the delegates were happy with the fact that about 275 motorbikes were ready to be distributed to all the constituency chairmen in the country to use for the 2016 campaign.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Hassan Ayariga said he was not desperate to hold on to the Flagbearership position at any cost as his opponent considered the race a ‘win or die’ affair.

He alleged that the police personnel and the EC officials who were supposed to be fair during the election, took bribes to massage and skew the result in favor of his opponent Dr. Edward Mahama.

He narrated that he took the lead in 7 out of the 10 regions when the counting was ongoing before the EC stopped the process; stressing they later resumed counting and suddenly the results went in favor of his opponent.

I don’t think we are practicing democracy; we are rather engaged in a mafia game. I am not in the party to be a mafia; I was in the party because I want to increase the fortunes of the party. I am spending my money and not anybody’s; the party is not giving me any money,” he chided.

He insisted he is not bitter but rather a happy man; stating that he is now out of an illegal party claiming the PNC does not believe in rules and regulations and party structures.

He however threw a challenge to Dr. Edward Mahama that in the 2016 election he (Hassan Ayariga) will amass more votes with a different political party to prove that majority of the PNC members don’t want him to lead the party.

"....majority of PNC members are leaving the party due to the way the congress was conducted...they cheated me by conniving with the Electoral Commission officials and the Police," he added.
