Nkoranza District Assembly donates towards Ramadan

Nkoranza South District Assembly has presented 50 bags of rice and 50 bags of sugar to the Chief Imam of the town to be distributed to Muslims who had embarked on Ramadan (Holy month of fasting) in the district. Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, District Chief Executive, who presented the items at a ceremony at Nkoranza, said the gesture was to encourage the Muslims in all activities during the Ramadan. He said the government appreciated the important role Muslims and other religious bodies played in promoting peace, unity and understanding among the people, which he said had enhanced national stability. Mr. Agyekum commended Muslims for their peaceful co-existence with the people of Nkoranza and advised them to enrol their children of school-going age in school. He cautioned the Muslim youth against hooliganism and advised them not to allow themselves to be used to cause trouble by �community saboteurs� since they could be arrested and prosecuted. Alhaji Osman Yeboah, the Chief Imam, who received the items, thanked the district assembly for the kind gesture.
