All Heads of the fifteen member states including Ghana's President, John Dramani Mahama are present at the 40th Ordinary Session of the Heads of State and Governments of the Economic Community of West Africa States ECOWAS.

The event was opened last night in Abuja, Nigeria and also concurs with the 40th Anniversary of the Authority.

GBC’s correspondent reports that - host president, Mahammudu Buhari in an opening remarks stated that – “After 40 years, ECOWAS should begin to seriously tackle the rising act of terrorism and religious extremism”.

An exhibition has been opened at the ECOWAS centre in Abuja, displaying rare documents, photographs and historic materials since the inception of ECOWAS.
