Apostle Adotey urges Christian leaders to be bold to confront politicians

The President of Ghana Pentecostal Council (GPC), Apostle John A. Adotey on Wednesday charged Christian leaders, to be bold to point out to politicians their responsibilities to the electorate instead of seeking favours from them. "We have failed as leaders to ensure the total development of the country as a whole," Apostle Adotey noted when addressing the annual National Delegates Conference of GPC in Accra. This year's conference, on the theme: "Transforming the Nation Through Christian Values," is to review activities of the Council and come out with new strategies for the future. An eight-member National Executive Council of GPC was inducted into office for a four-year term. They were, Bishop Charles Agyin Asare, First Vice President, Apostle Stephen Amoaning, Second Vice President, Revered Samuel Yaw Antwi, General Secretary, Apostle Nana Enyani Boadu, National Treasurer, Right Reverend Dr Gbordzoe, Bishop Nii Tackie Yarboi and Revered Sam Korankye Ankrah, all members. Apostle Adotey said the country deserved better in terms of economic development than the prevailing poverty and squalor environment. He expressed concern about the increasing social vices such as armed robbery, alcoholism and drug abuse in the country. Apostle Adotey noted that although members of GPC formed about 25 per cent of the population, it had failed to make the necessary impact in shaping and transforming society. "It should take the transformed lives of Christians to transform the society of the many vices that has affected its development," he added. Apostle Dr Kingsley Opoku Nyinah, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost in a sermon urged the Council to make Jesus Christ the centre of their deliberations. He said without Jesus Christ it would be difficult for them to achieve the objectives of the GPC.
