AMERI Power Deal: Blame Parlaiment, Not Mahama Gov't - Kwesi Pratt

Kwesi Pratt Jnr., Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper is wondering why government should be blamed for the furore over the deal with AMERI Energy Group.

To him, the deal was presented before Parliament and Ghana's legislators gave their approval for it to come into fruition.

Therefore, Ghana's Parliamentarians should face the backlash, not the Government of Ghana; he stressed.

Contributing to discussions on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Mr. Pratt however said if the AMERI Power deal with the Ministry of Power and Government of Ghana is suspicious, it should be investigated.

According to Mr. Pratt, the appropriate State authorities must launch thorough investigations to ascertain the truth in the issue.

He noted that there might be some "industrial competition" in the AMERI deal, following the Norwegian newspaper, VG's or strong interest in the matter.

Corroborating the claims of Mr. Pratt is the ranking member on the Mines and Energy Committee of Parliament, K.T Hammond who, it is believed said the Committee was misled to approve the controversial AMERI Power contract.

Speaking in an interview with Joy FM, K.T Hammond noted the Power Ministry failed to provide full details of the transaction to the Committee members.
