Police Detain Two NPP Members

The Accra Regional Police Command Thursday detained two members of the New Patriotic Party over a chaotic incident at the party’s headquarters on Wednesday.

It may be recalled that party’s private security personnel (Invincible Forces) at the NPP’s Asylum Down headquarters went on rampage on Wednesday, chasing journalists, some party supporters and destroying property.

A detailed document containing evidence was presented to the leadership of the party as police gave them a 24-hour ultimatum to produce the suspects.

Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Afia Tenge told Joy News her outfit is determined to get to the bottom of the matter.

“We had the leadership of the NPP being led by John Boado [Acting General Secretary] and they came with the two persons that they identified in the photograph, and as I speak to you they have reported to the police...” she told Joy News’ Kwakye Afreh-Nuamah.

She said investigations have begun into yesterday’s violent incident and suspects would be charged accordingly. She called on persons with any evidence about what happened on Wednesday to assist the police in their investigations.
