I Was Rejected As MCE For Ejisu Juaben Due To Sheer Hatred - Yamoah Ponkor

A rejected nominee for the Municipal Chief Executive position for Ejisu Juaben Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region, Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh says he was rejected on political grounds and sheer hatred.

According to him, some few members of the Assembly are behind the agitation which saw his rejection by the Assembly members.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Yamoah Ponkoh bemoaned that due to politics, hatred and other things he can’t mention on radio, some people have made him to appear as a monster to the newly-elected Assembly men and women.

Since I was appointed as MCE for Ejisu Juaben in 2011, I have improved the Assembly I inherited but due to politics, hatred and others I can’t mention on radio. Some people feel that I practically did nothing at the Assembly and also I have become a monster in the Assembly”, he lamented.

Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh failed to meet the 2/3rds majority required of him to be confirmed as the MCE for Ejisu Juaben as 41 out the 66 Assembly members voted ‘No’ with just 25 voting ‘Yes’; compelling President John Mahama to nominate another person for the job.

He claims majority of the Assembly members were carried away by the influence of some few people in the Assembly who are good at destroying people and creating confusion.

He however expressed confidence and hope that if President John Mahama re-nominates him, something different will happen this time around as the people have assured him of their votes to make him retain his position as the Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly Chief Executive.
