Over 300 Ghanaians To Be Killed In Libya?

Over 300 Ghanaians will be sentenced to death in Libya on Monday December 21, 2015 if the Ghana Embassy does not intervene.

The detainees according to reports have been in prison in Libyan town called Pejora for the past three months awaiting the intervention of officials of the Ghana Embassy.

A Ghanaian domiciled in Libya, Yaw Tekyi in an interview with Adom News said the only chance of survival for the detainees is for officials of the Ghana Embassy in Libya to show up in court.

He said their crime was loitering around in town because he had nowhere to go when they reached Libya to seek greener pastures.

“The Libyan authorities are only waiting for Embassy officials to confirm they are Ghanaian so release them but they don’t come to court” he fumed.

The chaotic atmosphere in the cells gives the vulnerable Ghanaians no chance to leave the desert country to a safer place.

Yaw Tekyi who claims to have spoken to two of the Ghanaians who hails from Dormaa in the Brong Ahafo region said the over 300 Ghanaians are appealing help.

He wondered why the authorities have turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to the plight of these stranded Ghanaians to die.

“The Ghanaians have been taken to court twice and no official from the Ghana Embassy in Libya was there so if they don’t come to court tomorrow, they will be killed” he bemoaned.

Yaw Tekyi made a passionate appeal to President Mahama to prompt the Ghana Embassy in Tripoli to save the lives of the innocent Ghanaians.
