The newly appointed 2016 Campaign Chairman for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Peter Mac Manu has launched a riposte at former member of the Council of State, Alhaji Asoma Banda over his damning political assessment of the party’s Flag bearer Nana Akufo-Addo.
He said it does not lie in the mouth of Alhaji Asoma Banda to declare who will be President of Ghana or not, since it is the sole preserve of God to determine whoever rules the country in the future.
The business mogul has stated that New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will never get the nod of Ghanaians to become a President of the country.
Speaking to Kwasi Pratt Junior on TV3’s Hot Issues he said :”The truth is he [Nana Akufo-Addo] can never be president… You see, to be a President, Kwasi, you must have certain structure, intelligence.”
He explained that for someone to become President, the person must have both wisdom and intelligence, adding “you see, people take certificate in university to be intelligent, No! You must have a wisdom”
However speaking on Accra-based Neat FM Monday, Peter Mac Manu who took strong exception to the unpalatable comments of Alhaji Banda, stated that this assertion does not reflect the general view and belief of majority of Ghanaians.
He nonetheless noted that the comment, although unfortunate, is a wake up call for the NPP campaign team and the entire party to work tirelessly to ensure victory for Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2016 elections.
“We take such comments in our stride, we’re going to work assiduously to prove the naysayers wrong, Nana Akufo-Addo will surely become the next President of Ghana.”
