The Member of Parliament (MP) for Agona East, Mr. John Kwesi Agyabeng, has reiterated the call on District, Municipal and Metropolitan Chief Executives to ensure that projects started by previous regimes are completed before new ones are initiated to ensure the accelerated development of the country. He said development projects should be divorced from politics because it involves the lives of the people. Addressing a durbar of chiefs and people of Agona Asafo to round off their annual Akwambo Festival, Mr. Agyabeng urged the people to cooperate with the government to complete on-going projects to transform the newly created district. He promised to assist the Agona East District Assembly to complete those projects to improve the living conditions of the people. The MP denied claims that within three months the District Assembly was building clinics, school blocks and other projects, and pointed out that those works were started during the previous government. Mr. Agyabeng called for unity between the DCE and himself to ensure the early completion of the rural electrification project for 22 communities in the district. He announced that plans were far advanced to start a library project which would be financed from his share of the Common Fund, to improve the academic performance of children in the area. The MP urged the people especially the youth, to take advantage of the availability of land in the area to enter into farming to enhance their living standards. Chief of Agona Asafo, Nana Yamfo Asuako XI, appealed to the government to extend electricity to other parts of the town to facilitate development. He commended the youth for the formation of Youth clubs in the town, and hoped they would use the clubs to enhance the development of Asafo. The Chief called on the Agona East District Assembly and the MP to help construct a community centre for the community so they would stop using the Presbyterian School Park as a durbar ground for festivals and other celebrations. Nana Asuako asked the government to help rehabilitate Agona Asafo town roads.
