An Accra High Court on Monday dismissed an application for injunction brought before it by Jim Yao Morti, paving way for the parliamentary primary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ketu South Constituency.

Mr Morti had been disqualified from contesting the primary in the NDC stronghold. However, he contested his disqualification, praying the court to enjoin the ruling party to reinstate him.

He had been disqualified as a result of a previous brush with the law over which he was arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

Mr Morti was also accused of presenting conflicting educational profile.

His attempt to seek legal redress over his disqualification forced the NDC to suspend him from the party.

The Court presided over by Daniel Mensah dismissed the application with the alibi that the disqualification does not breach Mr Morti’s fundamental human rights.

His counsel has, however, indicated that they will proceed to the Supreme Court if need be to get him reinstated. According to Mr Morti and his team, the party wants to make it easier for incumbent Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey to get re-elected.
