K.T Hammonds Acclamation Is Null And Void - Parliamentary Aspirant Alleges

The NPP Parliamentary aspirant contesting Hon. KT Hammond over the Adansi Asokwa Constituency seat in the Ashanti Region, Richard Oduro Anokye says the popular acclamation of the incumbent to go unopposed does not hold any relevance.

According to him, the purported acclamation which took place last Friday has no legal backing as none of the national and regional executives especially the director of election of NPP, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah has sanctioned the acclamation.

Hon. KT Hammond at the NPP special delegates’ conference at the Sunyani Coronation Park was mentioned to be the Parliamentary aspirant for the 2016 election at the Adansi Asokwa Constituency, following last Friday's popular acclamation at the constituency.

Due to this event, the main contender of KT Hammond over the Adansi Asokwa seat on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show has challenged that “the so-called popular acclamation of KT Hammond is null and void”.

He insisted the situation of the Adansi Asokwa parliamentary contest is under court injunction so far as he is concerned in the election; thus, he has not been informed officially the decision taken over the pending issue surrounding the primaries in that constituency.

He adjudicated that his vision to be the Adansi Asokwa Member of Parliament for the NPP is still intact, apparently nothing has happened to his ambition as he has taken inspiration from the Director of Election of NPP that he (Adjei Mensah) has not sanctioned any acclamation.

“Once the Director of election has stated he has no hands in the acclamation, I believe him. I picked my nomination at the constituency office and not from the market, and the Constituency Secretary and Chairman endorsed the form for me”.

“The Regional Secretary and Chairman also endorsed the form and I went through vetting and I was qualified to contest the Adansi Asokwa seat….I am a contender and nobody has said anything to me concerning the date of the primaries and whether I have been disqualified or not,” he challenged.
