President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, has urged managers of local clubs to package and make their clubs attractive for corporate investors.

This, according to Mr. Nyantakyi, will help make the league competitive and exciting for fans to watch.

In his comment at the opening of the Marketing and Media seminar for Premier and Division One League clubs in Accra, the GFA President said the local league will be attractive and competitive if clubs can raise funds to pay the local players well.

This, he argued, will help curb the high number of player exodus to countries whose standard of football are below that of Ghana.

"When it comes to quality of football, Ghana ranks among the best in Africa and yet we are one of the poorest in terms of resources."

According to him, the programme will help Ghanaian clubs to be attractive for investment from the corporate world.

He highlighted the need for the clubs to refresh themselves and be equipped with skills in order to interact with the media, saying, "The image of the club, the league and the FA as a whole in the eyes of the public is very critical.

"We need to package ourselves well so we can look good and through that we can also attract patronage from sponsors and the fans," he explained.

He urged managers of clubs to show interest in the programme, which according to him, will help upgrade their managerial skills.

He further entreated them to use the knowledge acquired to improve their clubs and the league as a whole.

"We expect you to take it to your clubs or leagues and ensure you translate it into practice and make sure it impacts positively on the workings of the club, or the league, or the association," he told the participants.

The two-day, non-residential retreat, is aimed at boosting operations of the clubs ahead of the start of the new season.

Supersport football expert and sports presenter, Thomas Kwenaite will lecture on football marketing, while lecturer Dr. Samuel Ofei will address the issue of "How to court business organizations to sponsor football clubs in Ghana."
