Im Surprised EC Considered Run-Off And Forgot New Voters' Register - NPP Director of Elections

Director of Elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, has agitated bitterly about the Electoral Commission's (EC's) projected budget for a run-off in the 2016 elections, forgetting the new voter register proposal being looked at.

The only problem that needs to be decided on as per the 2016 elections programme drawn is whether to change the voters’ register totally or make some changes to it.

".. I have come to realize that the commission has taken a firm decision not to prepare a new voters’ register because they have already finished with their budget for the 2016 elections," he indicated.

According to him the commission should bear in mind that they are in position to serve the good people of Ghana and not for their own personal interest, so as such, they should embrace themselves to things that would bring peace and transparency into the nation and nothing else.

"It causes me much shame and pain that the commission has brought up as one of its proposals that, elections would take place on the 7th of November next year and that would be the first round, but have again made a projected budget for run-off, that is if the presidential candidates do not attain 50+1 votes in the first round," he stated.

The leading opposition party (NPP) and some political parties and stakeholders have called for a new voters’ register.
