Stephen Appiah happy with Jordan Ayews performance in EPL

The former Ghana captain has praised the Villans’ striker for surmounting a difficult start in the English Premier League.

Former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has lauded the emergence of Aston Villa striker Jordan Ayew in the English Premier League after a dull debut.

The 24-year-old joined the Welch side from French team Lorient in August and is now the team’s top scorer with four goals in 13 games.

Ayew claimed a crucial away point for Villa last weekend against Newcastle, after cancelling Fabricio Coloccini’s opener for the host at St. James' Park.

“I’m really happy for Jordan,” Appiah said. “He had challenges in adapting to the English game but some of us knew he would find his feet soon.

“I’m delighted he is finally making everyone who knows him proud and I know he will only get better in the future,” he added.

Villa will host West Ham next weekend before travelling to Carrow Road to face Norwich City in their last game of the year.

Ayew is now the club’s top scorer in the league with four goals in 13 appearances, one more than Rudy Gestede.

He has been capped 31 times for Ghana since 2010, scoring 11 goals in the process.
