Mr Kwasi Oppong-Ababio, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has advised Ghanaians to consider doing away with negative attitudes that hamper societal growth and national transformation.

He said attitudes like envy, hatred, unpatriotic and mischievous are affront to effective nation building.

The MCE, who is also the National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate for Sunyani East for the 2016 general election, was speaking at a special end of year musical show, dubbed: “ASEDA 2015,” held at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church at Nkwabeng, a suburb of Sunyani.

Mr Oppong-Ababio explained that though Ghana is seen as a Christian or highly religious nation, endowed with numerous natural and human resources, “our ways of life and thinking are as so evil that, such a blessed nation continue to wallow in poverty and underdevelopment”.

He, therefore, urged the sizeable Christian population in the country to let their lives reflect their master Jesus Christ so that they could make a difference and impact positively wherever they find themselves.

“Government alone cannot change Ghana, unless the people changed their attitudes for the better,” he stated.

Mr. Oppong-Ababio urged his fellow political and other public office holders to find time off their busy schedules to attend to the things of God, stressing that without God they could do nothing.

Reverend Father Francis Mfodwo, Associate Parish Priest, said it is needful for mankind to appreciate God’s divine providence and sustenance for their lives and always give thanks to Him.

He explained that the Lord God Almighty has been so good to the church that all Christians need to do is to offer songs of praise and adoration for seeing them through another fruitful and successful year.

Mr Anthony Nsiah, Chairman of the Parish Youth Council, the initiator and organiser of the programme said the youth of the church would engage themselves in more fruitful ventures during the Yuletide rather than falling foul to negative vices.

He said the Council had decided to invite some of the nation’s finest gospel artists to perform to entertain the congregation and more importantly thank God for seeing them through a successful and peaceful year, hence the tagging of the programme, “ASEDA2015”.

Mr Nsiah appealed to policy makers to formulate a concrete development plan for the youth devoid of partisan leanings so that they would be productive and fruitful to take the place of the aged to transform Ghana.

He advised the youth to celebrate the Christmas festivities with care, because the nation needs them alive and healthy.

“Anytime you are going out, ask yourself where or what are you going to gain to add to your value,” he said.

The programme was sponsored by some individuals and organisations including GN Bank and Gold Coast Securities, which saw the large congregation being entertained to ecstatic musical rendezvous by Uncle Ato, Rev Kojo Oteng, Rev Fr Moses, Son Alex and some choral groups like Holy Spirit Choir, All Saints Choir and Holy Spirit Praises and Worship Team.
