NDP Set For Serious Business In 2016

Mr Ibrahim Shaibu, who has been elected as the Northern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Party (NDP), has pledged to work with zeal to substantially increase the party’s share of votes in the region, come the 2016 polls.

This was at the party’s regional conference held in Tamale.

Other officers elected included Jibril Bawa Mohammed, First Vice Chairman; Adam Rukaya, Second Vice Chairman; Mohammed Abdulai Karim, Secretary, Indiego Ben Abdulai, Deputy Secretary, and Abdulai Yahaya, Treasurer.

The rest were Mohammed Yakubu, Deputy Treasurer; Abdulai Mohammed Faza, Youth Organiser; Abubakari Seidu, Deputy Youth Organiser; Hajia Amina Gumbilla, Women’s Organiser, and Abdulai Ibrahim, Communications Officer.

They were all returned unopposed in an election supervised by the Tamale Metropolitan Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr Andani Issah.

The Regional Chairman said the NDP was in for serious business and would make a strong showing in the coming presidential and parliamentary elections.

He asked the members and supporters to remain loyal and accept to make the needed sacrifices to assure the party of electoral victory.

The General Secretary, Alhaji Mohammed Frempong, said when voted into power, the party would provide the right leadership to restore hope to the people and transform their socio-economic situation.

He called on voters to not allow themselves to be deceived into voting for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) but rather vote them out because the NDC was engulfed in corruption.

“We are all aware of the suffering we have gone through over the past seven years,” he said, adding that change was coming.

The NDP has almost finished with the election of its regional officers across the country and preparing to go to congress to elect the national leadership and presidential candidate.
