Mainstream Media Should Always Crosscheck Social Media Info - Nana Akomea Pleads

It is undeniable fact that often-times information going viral on social media has no assurance of accuracy and authenticity especially when it is negative about a personality.

On several occasions, due to competition in the mainstream media, many politicians and celebrities have suffered bad publications carried out from social media by mainstream media without spending time to crosscheck the information.

Speaking from the Nima Residence of NPP 2016 Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo Addo, the party’s Communications Director, Nana Akomea pleaded with the media to croos-check any negative Social media news about the flagbearer

He was speaking to the issue of a recent publication that Akufo-Addo participated in a Thanksgiving Service held at the Resurrection Power and New Generation Church at Kasoa in the Central Region to give thanks to God for steering the NPP through turbulent times which have seen three national officers suspended.

Of course it is not true (Nana Addo Went To Church To Praise God For Successful Suspension Of Some Members) and sometimes, you the mainstream media, sometimes some of these false stories find their way onto your portals”.

We will not have the BNI arrest and detain you like ‘Opana’ [President Mahama] did with the other story, but we will kindly ask you anytime there is some story like that, if it is about the party, you can always check with Mr. Perry Okudzeto at the communications directorate and if it is about the flagbearer, you can always check with his spokespersons, Olivia Quartey, Buabeng Asamoah and Alhaji Hamid….You can check with them before you use them because whether we like it or not, social media seems to have been tainted”, he stated.
