The Asankrangwa police have arrested a 19-year-old spiritualist, Moses Oppeng, for possessing a human skull.
He claims he uses it to consult dwarfs in the spiritual world.
The Ghanaian Times gathered that opppong claimed ownership of the skull, as well as a whisk and some powderish substance, saying people consulted him for spiritual assistance.
The police said they were investigating the claim that he bought the skull from somebody at a village in the area.
Two other persons, David Nartey and Ernest Acheampong, a student from Accra, who were arrested with Oppong, are also in police custody while investigations continue into the matter.
Confirming the story to The Ghanaian Times, the Asankrangwa District Police Commander Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)Kingsley Owusu Bempah, said they had information that Oppong was engaged in occultism and, therefore, had been monitoring his activities.
At about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, the police with the assistance of some residents, arrested Oppong and placed him in custody.
A search of his room revealed the items, including the human skull, DSP Bempah said.
“He claimed that Nartey and Acheampong were innocent and were his clients who came to Seek his help on spiritual matters. The two would be released after investigations had been completed,” DSP Bempah told The Ghanaian Times.
