Wife Assists Cousin To Assault Husband To Death

The Brong-Ahafo Police has arrested a 10-month nursing mother, Akosua Amponsah and her cousin for allegedly assaulting her husband, Vincent Ayambila, a farmer aged 26, leading to his death at Yamfo in the Tano North District of Brong-Ahafo Region.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), told the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani that Ayambila and Amponsah, aged 23, were married with two children at Yamfo.

He said the couple got drunk on December 26, 2015 and a fight ensued between them.

According to ASP Tawiah, later in the evening when Ayambila went to bed, Amponsah insisted that the husband move out from the room and therefore called her cousin known only as Chief, to assist her to force her husband out of the room.

He said Chief and Amponsah pounced on Vincent when he refused to get out and assaulted him.

On December 30, 2015 Ayambila complained of severe pains in the region of the ribs and was rushed to the Sunyani Municipal Hospital for treatment but was discharged.

ASP Tawiah said the health condition of Vincent deteriorated and on January 2, this year, he was again rushed to the same hospital where he was admitted, but he later died.

He said the body of the deceased had been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy whilst investigation was on-going to put them before court on a charge of murder.
