Former Ghana international Sammy Kuffour has urged Isaah Hayatou to step down as president of the Confederation of African football.
 
Hayatou who has been in office for over two decades is the fifth president of the Confederation of African Football.

The former Cameroon Football Association General Secretary has been criticized by many football enthusiasts who have questioned his works as president of the continents football governing body.

Many have called on the 69-year-old to vacate his seat as CAF President over several allegations leveled against him.

An investigation by the FIFA's Dirty Secret in 2010 revealed that the football administrator had taken bribes in the 1990s regarding the awarding of contracts for the sale of television rights for the football World Cup.

Many African football fanatics have also questioned the competency level and administrative style of the FIFA executive committee member.

Sammy Kuffour who retired from international football after the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany is calling on Hayatou to relinquish his post as CAF President.

“For me I think he (Hayatou) must resign as CAF President. He has ruled for some time and is time for him to leave that position for another person to take over, he spoke to Ghanasportsonline.com’s editor Dan Kwaku Yeboah in an exclusive interview.

“For me he is tired and the strength to work is no more, he is sometimes even capured on camera sleeping during meetings, which is bad.

“As I said he is tired and is time for him to leave so that someone else will take over.”

He is currently serving as the acting FIFA president after the ban imposed on Sepp Blatter who has been prohibited from all football related activities.
