I Will Treat You As Criminals ...Kofi Boakye Warns NDC,NPP

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kofi Boakye has cautioned political party heads in the region to conduct themselves well ahead of the upcoming general elections since any hate speech, ethnocentric comments and incitement of violence would be treated as crime.

According to him, the Police would also arrest any party man or media person who either incites violence or uses hate language on the airwaves.

Addressing political party heads in the Ashanti Region last Wednesday in preparation of a launch of a political party task force and election monitoring teams, the Police Chief said the command would not hesitate to crash any party officer caught to be inciting violence or hate language.

“I will hit you hard when you are caught to be perpetrating violence or causing confusion by your utterances on either radio or any media outlet.

“I as the regional Police Commander have sworn to defend the values of my administration and I don’t care whose ox is goad and in the discharge of my duties in this election year because I work for the state and not any individual or political party,” DCOP Kofi Boakye charged.

He stressed that the Police will apply the full force of the law when any party or group of persons fall foul to it.

He therefore warned the media not to play host to such defeatist and cowardice actions by any political group, adding the media should name and shame any party man who makes such irresponsible comments on the radio.

He noted, “Any police officer who compromises his stance and the duty because of political bias is not worthy to wear this uniform.”

According to the flamboyant Regional Commander, every police officer owes his or her allegiance to the State and not any political group or party.

“As police officers our duty is to guard every single Ghanaian no matter where he or she belongs politically and we would not sacrifice that duty to please a select group of persons or political party,” the Commander stressed.

He noted the preparedness of the Command to bring sanity in the public discourse as the nation prepares to hold the upcoming crucial elections.
