Police Recruitment To Go Electronic To Curtail Scam

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP John Kudalor has announced that Police recruitment will now be done electronically.

He said this when journalists from the ECOWAS sub region paid a courtesy call on him in his office.
The Police service has been hit with a number of recruitment scams in recent times.

According to COP Kudalor, the aim of the electronic recruitment is to reduce the human influence in the recruitment process.

“The recruitment was mostly manual but this time we are trying to do it electronic to reduce the human element. So if you are my son or my nephew and the machine rejects you there is no way you will be recruited,” he said.

He also said that the police will recruit more ahead of the general elections in November.

“They are going to increase the number of polling stations to about 29000. If you put two people at each polling station, you will have 58000. Personnel wise, we do not have that number of personnel on the ground to cover all the polling stations, so we are trying to recruit. I am sure that this year we are going to do some recruitment towards achieving the UN approved ratio of 1:500.”

The Police service has been commended for maintaining peace and order in the country during elections.
