Chief appeals for support to facilitate effective policing

Omanhene of the Komenda traditional area, Nana Kodwo Kru II, on Saturday appealed to government to help the council to construct a permanent police station at Komenda. He said the police station in the area was located in a private building without the requisite basic amenities, a situation, he said did not augur well for effective policing. Nana Kru, made the appeal at a durbar to climax the celebration of the annual �Nyeyi� festival of the chiefs and people of the area, under the theme �maintaining good sanitation culture-the role of the citizenry�. He announced that the council has already released a piece of land and moulded a quantity of concrete blocks to kick-start the project, and also appealed to individuals and organizations to support it.Nana Kru further appealed to government to construct a landing bay at Komenda as well as connect communities without electricity to the national grid. He also appealed to the Department of Feeder Roads to expedite the clearing of weeds on the shoulders of the Komenda junction-Komenda road.On the theme for the festival, the Omanhene, charged residents of the area to keep their communities clean by undertaking communal labour in support of President Mills� efforts to keep the environment clean, and commended Zoomlion, a waste management Company, for helping to improve sanitation in the area. Dr Joseph Annan, Member of Parliament for the area and Deputy Minister of Education, donated GH�1,400.00 towards the development of the area.
