General Secretary of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union, Solomon Kotei says a decision to call off their subsequent demonstrations and strike would depend on the outcome of their meeting today with government.

“…We have told all our member teams, it is after today’s meeting that Organized Labour would give a directive as to whether we are going to continue with the demonstrations or go on strike, so we plead with all our members to hold on their peace until today’s meeting is over,” he said.

Speaking to JOY FM news, he said until that official position is made members of the group should show commitment and maturity as they have always done over the years when matters like this come up to prevent them from breaching the laws of the state.

In a related development, Employment and Labour Relations Minister, Haruna Iddrisu has appealed to the labour unions, workers and ordinary Ghanaians to bear with government as Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) continues to negotiate its numbers with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Energy about the prices of petroleum products and utility tariffs.
