NDC On Ivor Greenstreet's Victory

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has congratulated Ivor Greenstreet, the newly elected flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) for the 2016 elections.

Ivor Greenstreet in a landslide victory polled 1,288 votes to beat daughter of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s First President, Samia Nkrumah who had 579 votes in an election which took place on Saturday at the Accra International Trade Fair Centre. 

In a congratulatory message signed by the NDC’s General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the party said “it salutes Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s Convention People’s Party (CPP), for democratically electing comrade Ivor Kobina Greenstreet as the Party’s Flagbearer going into the 2016 General Election.” 

The message further noted that "the election of comrade Greenstreet is another testimony of the CPP’s resolve to continue to do its utmost best to deepen its internal democracy and also help deepen Ghana’s nascent democratic dispensation. The NDC salutes the 3 other comrades who contested comrade Greenstreet for accepting the will and choice of the majority of the delegates. We wish comrade Greenstreet well in his new and daunting role and pray that the CPP continues to remain very relevant on the Ghanaian political landscape.”
