Anagbla Refutes Yartey Claims

The Chairman of the Black Satellites management committee Jordan Anagbla has poured cold water on the allegations made by youngster Ishmael Yartey that head coach Sellas Tetteh took bribes from players before naming his final 21-man squad. The Portugal-based midfielder came days after being dropped from the squad ahead of the Fifa World Championship which begins next Thursday in Egypt. Yartey, 19, claims he was a victim of rejection after he failed to pay the money requested and that some players have been maintained in the team because of the coach's share in their winning bonuses et al. The SC Beira-Mar player's claims have forced the Ghana Football Association to launch a full scale investigation into the matter to prove the innocence or otherwise of the coach. But Anagbla has been quick to water down on the allegations insisting that they are well wide of the mark. "I don't know of such things and I don't believe that they are happening. It is normal for a player to feel bad and disappointed but I have been here with them in Qatar and I dont have any reason to believe Sellas Tetteh will take money from players before selecting them," Anagbla replied. "When people make such allegations, you should ask them which members are involved. "I spoke with the player and he even called me when he got back to Portugal and so I was a bit shocked when I heard such news." The Satellites are currently in Tunisia to finalize preparations before their tournament opener against Uzbekistan in Group D on 26 September.
