Abu Sakara Will not Return To CPP

The newly elected 2016 flagbearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Mr. Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, has said that he intends to work assiduously to secure the return of the party’s 2012 presidential candidate, Dr. Abu Sakara, who resigned prior to the party’s congress citing a number of reasons for his decision, back into the CPP fold.

The optimistic Greenstreet, stated that a peace offering effort aimed at getting Dr. Sakara back into the CPP family, will be embarked on, adding; “I know he has some issues and there were some problems; but I’m sure that, at the right point in time, I will have discussions with him but these are party matters. I see myself as a flagbearer that means I can bear the flag or carry the standard flag of the party.

“So decisions like these, I will discuss with the chairman and the leaders of the party and see the way forward. We will have a discussion about what is the best in the interest of both of us and see how we can move forward”.

But The Informer can exclusively report that, Dr. Abu Sakara, whose supporters voted massively for Ivor Greenstreet Will Not return to the CPP as wished.

According to this Paper’s source, the CPP 2012 presidential candidate intends to embark on a nationwide campaign tour, to appeal to persons to share in the same ideals and vision with him, as he [Sakara] readies himself to contest the November 7, 2016 election as an independent presidential candidate.

The source added that; “As principled as he [Dr. Sakara] is, nothing would make him change his mind. Ivor Greenstreet meant well, but will not succeed in getting Dr. to rescind his decision.”

“Much has gone into that decision and Dr. will announce his running-mate soon to contest the upcoming presidential election as an independent candidate,” the source hinted further.

Dr. Abu Sakara, who feared that the CPP was being turn into a dynasty, where persons related to the party’s Fonder and Ghana’s First President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, would have the sole right to lead the party, tendered in his resignation; saying, good-bye to the CPP.
