Police Officer: I Cant Watch The Masses Live In Abject Poverty Whiles I Enjoy Single Spine. . .

A Police Officer, General Corporal Nicodemus Beanata has made a bold decision which many will consider weird to resign from the Ghana Police Service to join force with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to campaign against President Mahama and his NDC government.

Knowing that it is against the ethics of the police service, Corporal Beanata explained that he couldn’t have joined active politics while in service; hence, his decision to resign in order to help the NPP win power in 2016 general election.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, the resigned police officer revealed that some of the officers have removed their uniforms to join Nana Akufo Addo and the NPP to campaign against the ‘nasty’ way President John Mahama is governing the country.

To him, the vision of the NPP Flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo is the only means the fortunes of Ghana will be exposed to benefit the people in his hometown and Ghanaians at large.

Though his resignation has not gone down well with his family and friends, and even some in the opposition NPP, he pointed out that even though the reward in the police service especially the single spine salary is good, he cannot enjoy seeing the masses in his village suffer the hardship under Mahama’s administration.

….they tried to convince me to rescind my decision but I told them I’m resigning due to the love I have for Ghana . . . if I go to my hometown to see how my people are suffering under NDC government, I cannot sleep. People are talking about single spine salary but if I take single spine and my descendants cannot have three-square meals a day, they cannot pay their children’s school fees and even buy school uniforms, I feel bad about it,” he revealed.

We decided to ditch our uniforms to campaign seriously for Nana Addo to come to power and save Ghana from this kind of situation . . . we want to follow Nana Akufo-Addo to come to power so that his vision for Ghana will come to pass,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, the ruling NDC National Organizer, Kofi Adams who was obviously not comfortable with the police officer’s reason for resigning said on the same platform that the officer’s decision was a selfish desire and not in the interest of the country.

The Director of Public Affairs of the Police service, Supol Cephas Arthur however commended the young officer for adhering to the laws of the police service by resigning before engaging in active politics.

He therefore admonished that every police officer in active service that engages in active politics will be punished in accordance with the law.
