The Next Conflict in This Country Would Be From Galamsey Security Expert

Dr Emamanuel Kwesi Aning a security expert with the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre in an interview with Okay FM, has said that the next conflict in this country would be about illegal mining popularly known as “galamsey”, which would even be more violent than the story between the Fulanis and Agogo residents.

According to him, conflicts are emanating from one end to the other because Ghanaians always want cheap and free things which would eventually have effect on the nation.

“If I come out to tell the truth, Ghanaians would say I want a job from government which can never be true,” he said.

In an interview with Okay FM on ‘Ade Akye Ebia’ morning show, he said this is because we are dreamers in this country who have refused to tell the truth or face facts, because we live in a country where some individuals have personalized the laws and rejected anything from government because they do not belong to the party in power.

“As a matter of fact it is about time that authorities involved would let some non-law abiding citizens know that they can never be above the law by treating each and every citizen equally by the laws of the land,” he noted.

He noted that the most painful aspect of the Fulanis and Agogo conflict is the consistent failure of state agencies, because when one looks at the district regional security council, the regional security council and other sectors who have been paid to protect citizens, they are fantastic institutions of mechanisms that could have prevented this conflict.
