NPP Doctored My "Akyems Are Ungrateful Offsprings Of A Witch" Audio - Baba Jamal

A member of the Eastern Regional Communication team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Baba Jamal Koni who described Akyems as children of a "witch" says the audio making waves in the media has been doctored to favor the opposition NPP.

According to him, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) want to run away from the debate he raised with regards to the developmental projects done in the Eastern Region especially Akyem lands under the leadership of President John Mahama.

Baba Jamal Koni emphatically stated in the audio that any Akyem person from the Eastern Region who does not vote for John Dramani Mahama come November 7 is a disrespectful child of a "witch".

“If you do assessment and compare the NPP's 8-year rule and President Mahama's 4-year reign and towards the election 2016, especially, the Akyems cannot be ungrateful to the NDC and President Mahama. If the Akyems vote against President Mahama then they are disrespectful offsprings of a witch."

But reacting to the audio attributed to him, Baba Jamal Koni challenged the authenticity of the recording on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning show, saying that “the tape is disjointed and put together by the NPP so that they can run away from the debate I raised.

He explained that the actual statement he made was that “if you look at the various levels of development in Akyemland under President Mahama and the Akyems don’t vote for him, then they are ungrateful.

How can I speak against the people of Akyem especially when many of our members are Akyems, but the NPP sliced off the latter part of my statement when I used the adage which says that it is only a child of a witch who does not show gratitude to run away from the debate,” he stated.

He however dared the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to come out to deny that President Mahama has not performed better in his four years than the eight (8) years of President Kufuor of which Nana Akufo-Addo played an integral role as a cabinet minister.

If Akyems did not see any development under President Kufuor, the majority part of the blame will be on Akufo-Addo and Osafo Mafo who played integral part of the administration as MPs and Cabinet Ministers from Akyemland,” he stressed.
