Many political interest groups especially ‘Let My Vote Count Alliance’ and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have doubted the integrity and sincerity of Madam Charlotte Osei since her appointment by President Mahama to serve as the new Electoral Commissioner.

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) from the onset of her appointment have argued that Madam Charlotte Osei is a member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) whose appointment as the new EC boss is intended to foster the chance of President Mahama to win the 2016 election.

The suspicion of the opposition NPP about Mrs Charlotte Osei was made strong when the opposition felt that there is a deliberate attempt by the EC boss to ignore some recommendations of her own 5- Member Panel to validate the voters’ register to get rid of ghost names.

The EC has instead decided to fix a date to go ahead of the limited registration exercise as the issue of validation instructed by 5-Member Committee has not been honored.

Again, another reason which convinces the opposition to believe the EC boss lacks honesty and credibility to handle the 2016 elections and doing the bidding of the NDC as a member of the party is the inclusions of Dr. Karl Mark Arhin, Francis Azumah and Lawyer Joseph Whittal to the EC’s Steering Committee.

But Kofi Adams on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show insists that Madam Charlotte Osei has not political allegiance with the NDC and does not bear his party’s ID card as she has already established in the media.

“Madam Charlotte Osei has no political party ID card according to her; she is a lawyer and I believe her. I see her to be honest and truthful. She has not contested on NDC ticket before but the NPP were able to produce a poster of her showing she has contested on NDC ticket before,” he stated.

Kofi Adams welcomes the resignation of Dr. Arhin from the EC’s Steering Committee because he fears the worst thing could have been done against Dr. Arhin who is clearly a member of NDC.
