EC Boss Is Clouding Herself In Needless Controversies - KNUST Lecturer

Business and Financial Accountant, Mr. Kusi Boafo who is also a Lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology says the Electoral Commissioner, Madam Charlotte Osei is responsible for making her work difficult.

According to him, Madam Charlotte Osei’s work as EC boss should have been simple by playing the middle role in decisions involving the 2016 elections; adding that should have involved the various recognized political parties at the IPAC level to come out with ideas which they will agree work with in the 2016 elections.

Stating the stakes surrounding the 2016 general elections, Mr. Kusi Boafo on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show averred the November 7 polls come with tension due to the fact that political history will be made in both NPP and NDC.

He explained that the NDC will be in power for the third term, making the first political party in Ghana if it wins the November 7 polls and also that victory will break the chain of changing government every 8 years.

He added that if President Mahama loses the November 7 elections, he will be the first President to be in power for one term and this year’s elections is the last and final attempt of Nana Akufo Addo; thus this year’s election is crucial on all fronts.

Due to these facts surrounding the upcoming general elections, Mr. Kusi Boafo believes the Electoral Commissioner should not be seen to be doing the bidding of President Mahama, her appointer who is also participating in the elections.

“Why should the EC boss be surrounding herself in controversy? Her work is simple but yet she has made it difficult. The EC boss should have contacted the appointees to ask whether they are interested in the committee or not before embarrassing the NDC and the appointees”, he stated.

“She should have involved the various recognized political parties to take that decision while you play the middle role; you should have called them to commit themselves to agreement and this hullabaloo and doubts about the committee would not have occurred”, he stressed.
