Steering Committee: We Must Remain Calm - EC PRO

Public Relations Director of the Electoral Commission, Sylvia Annor has called on stakeholders in Ghana's electoral process to remain calm as the Commission reviews its Steering Committee.

The Commission set up an 18-member Steering Committee which has since courted controversy across the nation.

The integrity of some members on the Committee has been challenged by political actors and due to the public outcry over the constitution of the Committee, the EC has heeded calls for the Commission to review the Committee.

Speaking in an interview with host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', the EC Public Relations Director explained the logic in the setting up the Committee.

According to her, the Commission put together a team from the Ghana Police Service, the Military, Peace Council and other stakeholders to volunteer their advice and services to achieving successful elections on November 7 this year.

To her, it is in the good intention of the Commission to have chosen some people to form the Committee but however believes it's equally prudent to pay heed to the concerns raised about the Committee.

She therefore wants the EC to be given the breathing space in addressing the concerns from the masses.
