EC Is Threading On Dangerous Grounds Nana B

A member of the Ccommunications Team of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as ‘Nana B’ says the Electoral commission is threading on dangerous grounds which is not in the best interest of the country.

According to him, the ‘errors’ being made by the EC chairperson, Charlotte Osei, are far too many, adding that if care is not taken, it can affect the sanity of the upcoming elections.

Nana B's comment follows various controversies arising after the EC set up an 18-member Committee to ensure a smooth and peaceful 2016 elections.

The electoral body was accused of doing the bidding of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) as some of the members (18-member committee) were said to be card-bearing activists of the ruling party.

Subsequently, reports emerged that the EC after, an Inter-Party Advisory Committee meeting, has suspended the Committee due to the furore over its composition. But in a sharp U-turn, the EC said it never suspended the controversial 18-member Committee.

On Monday, a former Chief Director of the EC, Damoah Agyemang expressed concern about her posture and even asked the current Chairperson of the Commission, to justify her neutrality since she seems to be controlled by unseen hands.

I’m not sure she’s in firm control of her job – she needs to do more to show her neutrality judging by her past deeds, Mr. Damoah Agyemang told KasapaFM.

Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Nana B said the EC needs to come back on track in order to ensure a free and fair election.

The way EC is conducting activities is worrying. We are in an election year and the errors are becoming too many…this must stop. If this continuous, you raise alarm and this will not be good for the country. We want a clean and credible electioneering process,” he said.
