Members of Parliament have expressed concern about the portfolios given to President Mahama’s ministerial appointees.
According to Parliament’s Vetting Committee, most of the nominees who appeared before it “were not diligent enough, yet the offices that they have been nominated to serve require serious diligence.”
They also complained that the nominees had issues with their Curriculum Vitae (CV).
“There were many gaps and sometimes overlaps and seeming conflict in the CVs submitted, and the nominees were requested to re-submit their CVs,” a document from the Vetting Committee added.
The Vetting Committee subsequently urged “the nominees to exercise greater diligence in their respective endeavours if approved by the House.”
President John Dramani Mahama in January 2016 reshuffled his ministers and nominated new ones.
Parliament’s Vetting Committee has so far vetted about seven of them and has recommended their approval.
They are:
1.Albert Abongo – Upper East Regional Minister designate.
2. John Alexander Ackon – Ashanti Regional Minister designate
3. Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye – Minister of Yough and Sports designate
4. Kweku Rickets Hagan – Central Regional Minister designate
5. Abdallah Abubakari – Northern Regional Minister designate
6. Prosper Douglas Bani – Minster of Interior designate
7. Mavis Ama Frimpong – Eastern Regional Minister designate
Meanwhile, Members of Parliament debated matter on Wednesday.
