The Minority Is "Sleeping, But . . . - Prez Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama during his State of The Nation Address on thursday tagged the minority as a ‘sleeping’ caucus who are refusing to acknowledge his achievements – but he was quick to retract that statement and said “It was a joke”.

He passed a similar remark last year when addressing National Democratic Congress (NDC) members in the Volta Region to wrap up his ‘Changing Lives, Transforming Ghana Tour’. It incurred the displeasure of the Minority who, as expected, called on the president to retract and apologize to the House.

The minority had earlier accused the Mahama-led government of misusing state funds borrowed to solve Ghana’s energy problem.

But this time, he casually ask the minority to take a joke since he was only kidding.

During the president’s State of The Nation Address – he was interrupted for passing that comment when he commended parliamentarians for passing the agreement that made it possible for the country to procure additional generation sets that eased the country’s energy situation.

President John Dramani Mahama was quick to reply - “no, you are not sleeping. That was a joke.”
