NGO Pledges Support For Demolition Of Sodom and Gomorrah

Reverend Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn, Chairman of Inter Faith Movement, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has pledged its support to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly�s (AMA) decision to demolish slums in the metropolis. Speaking to newsmen after a visit by officials of the Movement to Sodom and Gomorrah on Friday, he said: �It is really disheartening to know that people live under such deplorable condition.� Rev. Fynn, former Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana appealed to all and sundry to support the AMA�s decision to demolish all slums in the metropolis because they did not augur well for the image and health of the people. He asked residents of Sodom and Gomorrah to return home and undertake profitable ventures such as farming since the government was prepared to assist them. In another development, Dr. Alfred O. Vanderpuije, Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive on Friday visited two beneficiary schools of the School Feeding Programme in the metropolis. They were Sempe Cluster of Schools at James Towm where 600 pupils were fed daily and Ayalolo Cluster of Schools where 1,352 pupils benefited daily from the programme. He expressed satisfaction about the food provided to the pupils and the orderly manner they were fed. Dr. Vanderpuije distributed candies to the pupils.
